New Zealand’s Event: Good Deeds Day 2022

It Takes a Village Hub, based in Canterbury, New Zealand, is a volunteer-run charity that provides children, from birth to the age of 5, from families in material hardship and poverty with bundles of needed goods. Each bundle is tailormade to the family’s needs and can include such items as clothing, shoes, hats, bedding, feeding items, toys, books, and consumables such as nappies, wipes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, etc. They can also include larger items such as cots, car seats, bassinets, baths, change tables, and more.

On Good Deeds Day, they hosted a sorting day, as 99% of donations came from the community and needed to be sorted into sizes and pass their dignity standard. They also made up bundles to send out to the families. They received 73 applications in February, and the Omicron outbreak in New Zealand will only make those numbers continue to grow in the coming months.
