GOOD DEEDS DAY IN ECUADOR

In Ecuador, we are in Guayaquil and Manabí. We are looking for new volunteers who wish to join our movement and help us grow across the whole country to address as many causes as possible.  Our main goal is to promote projects of partner organizations we work with through different channels, so that they connect us to new volunteers and make alliances with private business entities.

In 2012, in Guayaquil City, several organizations united to host the first joint activity for promoting good deeds. The occasion was named the Youth Day celebration, later to become the Volunteering Day, until in 2018 it finally turned into the Good Deeds Day, pursuant to this organization’s global calendar.

Since the beginning, Scouts del Ecuador, ACORVOL, Lions Club, Rotarios and Food Bank have supported and taken part in every GDD activity, along with partners such as UNILEVER, who play a fundamental role in our initiatives. We currently rely on leaders of different organizations and volunteers who work to extend the reach of GDD even more and to make new people join this movement from every nook and cranny of Ecuador.

In 2020, Good Deeds Day was officially registered as a non-profit organization. We expect this to help us achieve great and relevant alliances, both in the social and private sectors. Activities such as the Good Deeds Day Latin America Regional Conference, for which Ecuador was selected as the next host, serve this purpose. We expect this in-person event to take place in 2023.

MISSION STATEMENT

In Ecuador, together with the ACORVOL volunteers, we focus on health care projects for people in need, including fairs where different medical tests are practiced for free. Children are also pivotal for us, and this is why we seek to empower them through reading habits. The Scouts, GDD’s partners, also work with children and youths who are to become the leaders of the future. We are formed, organized and registered as Fundación Día de las Buenas Acciones with the relevant authorities. In this way, the Foundation coordinates and centralizes all projects and activities with a view to become a national movement with a strong presence in the region and to receive media coverage of our activities.

FEATURED PROJECT

Our partners in Manabí are Fundación Clara Luna. They work all year round to bring children closer to reading, by hosting reading events with good quality children’s literature to spark their interest.  Through libraries the also seek to produce gender equity and empower girls and women.

“We want to strengthen children’s self-esteem, to help them understand they have a world of possibilities, to love themselves, to validate themselves, to accept themselves, and to learn how to resolve to change” says Paola Martínez, Director of Fundación Clara Luna, a great partner and a cornerstone of Good Deeds Day Ecuador.
