MAIN ISSUES
Belize faces several challenges in achieving sustainable development goals, but the country is actively working toward solutions in key areas:
Quality Education: Limited access to resources, teacher shortages, and high dropout rates hinder education. Belize addresses this by expanding digital learning, improving teacher training, and offering scholarships to underserved students.
Partnerships for the Goals: Collaboration between the government, NGOs, and international organizations supports social and economic development. Initiatives like the United Nations’ support programs help drive sustainable policies.
Good Health and Well-Being: Belize struggles with healthcare accessibility, non-communicable diseases, and maternal health issues. The government is strengthening healthcare services by investing in rural clinics, promoting preventative care, and partnering with global health organizations.
No Poverty: Economic instability and unemployment contribute to poverty. The country tackles this through social welfare programs, job creation initiatives, and financial support for small businesses.
Reduced Inequalities: Gender disparities, indigenous community challenges, and income gaps persist. Belize promotes equality through legal reforms, social programs, and policies aimed at empowering marginalized groups.
