International Volunteer Day was created by the UN General Assembly and is held each year on the 5th of December. United Nations Volunteers (UNV) assembles a campaign to promote International Volunteer Day every year, emphasizing the impact volunteers have in their communities and around the world. It is a global celebration of volunteers and an opportunity for everyone to recognize volunteers, and the contributions they make every day.
Together, we can do anything!
The year’s theme, Together We Can Through Volunteering, not only encourages us to thank all our volunteers around the world but also allows us to shed light on the difficult times we are facing this year. Volunteers are needed now more than ever! The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us deeply and volunteers stepped up to help their communities and give aid to where it was needed. Let’s take this time to celebrate the power of volunteerism and thank volunteers worldwide for all their effort, hard work, and dedication to making this world a better place.
