Volunteers across Uganda came together to celebrate Good Deeds Day 2026, demonstrating how acts of kindness can spark meaningful change. The annual event brought together 88 organizations, 15 schools, and over 860 participants for a day of giving back through education, environmental efforts, and health campaigns.

Coordinated by a national network of partner organizations, including Raising Teenagers Uganda, the celebration reached communities across the country and inspired volunteerism. While Good Deeds Day serves as the movement’s annual event, its impact also extends far beyond a single day.

Uganda Unites for Good Deeds Day

This year’s Good Deeds Day Uganda celebrations featured a variety of activities to promote kindness and improve education and social well-being. Volunteers gave back through school-based outreach, community clean-ups, environmental conservation efforts, and more.

As part of the Good Deeds Day efforts, 560 students were provided with scholastic materials to help them attend school and ease the burden on vulnerable families. Other activities included blood donations and the distribution of sanitary products to those in need. Thanks to Giving Tuesday, 500 fruit seedlings were donated and distributed to different partners and schools to plant fruit trees.

A Year-Round Movement

However, Good Deeds Day Uganda is much more than a one-day event, and takes place throughout the year. One ongoing activity that is creating meaningful change is Hike for Girls, which is hosted by Raising Teenagers Uganda annually. It’s a community mobilization and fundraising initiative that helps vulnerable girls access education and menstrual health support, while also raising awareness about school retention challenges.

Another important platform is the Gathering of Givers, which unites organizations, volunteers, and partners throughout the year to share experiences, coordinate outreach, and strengthen collaboration for community impact. The movement also shares stories from volunteers and communities to inspire more action across Uganda.

Building a Brighter Future in Uganda

Looking ahead, Good Deeds Day Uganda aims to engage more schools, expand education support for vulnerable children, and continue fundraising for scholastic materials and menstrual hygiene products. Another goal is to scale up mentorship, child protection, and health awareness sessions.

Finally, the hope is to increase the number of volunteers, while expanding the reach of community service activities to more districts and underserved communities. “To me, Good Deeds Day is about bringing people together to serve others, restore hope and demonstrate that every person has the power to make a difference,” says Nankunda Hope, founder and executive Director at Raising Teenagers Uganda.

As the movement continues to grow, Good Deeds Day Uganda is helping inspire a culture of kindness and volunteerism. By bringing people together around a shared purpose, the initiative is proving that every good deed can have a lasting impact and change lives.
