WHEN UNITED IN DOING GOOD, WE REACH WONDERFUL PLACES!
In honor of the 20th Good Deeds Day, we partnered with 20 organizations from all overthe world to create 20 Good Deeds Trail – each one shining a light on the unique social impact happening within its community.
This trail was designed by GDD country leaders to offer you easy, quick, and meaningful ideas for doing good. Feel free to explore, get inspired by their creativity and experience, and join us for Good Deeds Day on April 12, 2026.
If we think good, speak good, do good, and protect our togetherness - the world will be a better place.![]()
“Gather the volunteers, create an event on social media, and invite people. Buy some garbage bags and, together, clean up your neighborhood park, a forest, a
nearby river, or maybe a beach. You׳ll feel like you can make a difference.”
Bura Ki Dong, Cambodia
“Spread kindness the easy way. Create uplifting message templates like “You can change the world” or “Together we do good,” gather volunteers, and spray them on sidewalks with washable colors. Passersby will see these positive reminders and may share them, sparking a chain reaction of kindness and shifting mindsets one message at a time.”
Magdalena Buczynska, Poland
“Choose the areas where support is most needed, reach out to supermarkets, distributors, restaurants, and community groups to gather supplies and support. Create a simple menu that can serve many people – soups are ideal. Organize volunteers to wash, chop, cook, and package meals.”
Diane Felicien, Saint Lucia
“Painting schools and kindergartens, in your area is a simple way to inspire children’s mindset and make the environment more creative. Choose bright colors, and bring volunteers together to repaint classrooms and hallways. Add simple murals or motivational quotes to make the space welcoming and inspiring for students.”
Margi Villagras, Costa Rica
“Reach out to your local medical center and ask how you can help organize a big scale blood donation event. Then create a social media event, spread the word throughout your community, and invite people to come together and give the gift of life.”
Georges Ouedraogo, Burkina Faso
“Students from the International Relations program visited Hogar Pajarito Azul, a center that provides comprehensive care to children, teens, and adults with disabilities.
They organized an afternoon of activities, storytelling, and gifts, delivering clothing, toys, and essential supplies to support their basic needs.
The experience created a meaningful moment of connection, joy, and support for everyone involved.”
Fabiola Cárcamo Cabrera, Nicaragua
Students visited the preschool at josé de la cruz mena school to support 30 children from low-income families with learning materials and school supplies. They prepared kits with notebooks, coloring books, scissors, crayons, and basic items to accompany their early education. The day included activities, a raffle, and a piñata celebration, bringing joy, motivation, and hope to the entire school community.”

“A member of a Village Savings and Loans group proudly shows the funds received through a Good Deeds Day soft loan from the Development Network Initiative (DIN). The support enables women to strengthen small businesses, improve household income, and build long-term community resilience.
Anderson Billiat, Malawi
“The Volunteering Festival leverages the power of celebration to strengthen the culture of doing good and build community resilience. By bringing people together through shared experiences, stories, and collective action, VolFest creates spaces where volunteering feels accessible, joyful, and rooted in everyday life. It recognises that communities grow stronger when kindness is celebrated, participation is inclusive, and doing good is seen not as an obligation but as a shared cultural practice. The doing good annual ritual becomes a catalyst—turning small acts into sustained engagement and collective resilience.”
Ashutosh Sharma, Humans of Volunteering, India
“Over the past year, we have brought much joy and happiness to elderly people through powerful acts of generosity and altruism to break their loneliness.
For several precious hours, we shared moments of pure joy, exchanging warm words, lively songs, and spontaneous dances. The joy was palpable, creating an atmosphere of celebration and intergenerational connection. Gifts were given to them as a sign of respect, gratitude, and affection. It was a day full of humanity that reminds us that doing good is simply being there, with all your heart.”
EDOUWOSSI Kokou, Togo
“For more than two decades, ADP ZID has been working to strengthen volunteering in Montenegro by connecting policy, practice, and people. We believe that volunteering is not only about individual action, but about creating systems that enable participation, protect volunteers, and recognize their contribution to society. Through advocacy, education, and community work, we have supported the development of volunteering policies that value care, solidarity, and active citizenship. These efforts remind us that sustainable volunteering grows when trust, inclusion, and shared responsibility are built into the structures that support it”.
Milena, Montenegro
“We focused on offering compassion, comfort, and practical support to individuals and families continuing to recover from Hurricane Melissa. We distributed food and hygiene packages, generators, and clothing to families in need. Even two months later, many communities remain without electricity. In Llandilo, Westmoreland, our volunteers continue to share access to a generator, helping residents stay connected by charging phones and tablets. These ongoing efforts remind us that standing with communities – consistently and with care – can make a meaningful difference, especially during challenging times.”
Carmesha, Jamaica
“Amid the busy end-of-year season, we were reminded of the power of simple, thoughtful giving. We focused on one intention: to give with care. Through Hands On Manila and Zendesk’s yearly gift-giving initiative, volunteers came together to assemble grocery packs for children and families. Each pack carried more than daily essentials – it held kindness, empathy, and the quiet reassurance that they are remembered. In these moments of shared generosity, Hands On Manila helped foster connections, dignity was honored, and hearts were gently reminded that even the simplest gestures can bring comfort, hope, and togetherness.”
Jeff Gallardo, Philippines
“We have witnessed moments that truly change lives: young people sharing knowledge, older adults offering care and wisdom. Through exchanging time, learning and affection, small acts of kindness reveal their power to reduce isolation, build meaningful connections and show that when generations come together, communities grow stronger, warmer and more human – we don’t need to do it all, just take the first step, because even a single gesture can spark lasting change.”
